About Dr. Basem Attum
Advanced Orthopedic Care with a Patient‑First ApproachMy approach to medicine is very simple: do right by the patient. When caring for a patient, I believe it is essential to educate them about their condition so they can understand why I choose specific treatments. When surgical intervention is necessary, my goal is not only to achieve an excellent result but also to minimize postoperative pain and disrupt the patient's life as little as possible.
Orthopedic surgery is a constantly evolving field. To provide the best possible outcomes, a surgeon must adapt to advancements in technology and new techniques while also incorporating time-tested traditional methods. I have learned to integrate both modern innovations and proven techniques to ensure my patients receive the highest level of care.
Through my intense and comprehensive training at the University of California, San Diego, as well as my fellowship, I have gained extensive expertise in arthroscopy and arthroplasty for both the upper and lower extremities. My experience includes procedures such as rotator cuff repair, minimally invasive rotator cuff repair, advanced shoulder techniques, total shoulder replacements, reverse total shoulder replacements, and minimally invasive elbow and hand surgeries. Additionally, I have specialized training in hip and knee replacements under Dr. Thomas Ferro at Nano Knee Clinic in Arroyo Grande, California.
A key aspect of my approach is minimizing postoperative pain and ensuring that patients experience the least possible disruption to their daily lives during recovery. My patients not only achieve excellent surgical outcomes but also benefit from a pain-minimized and seamless recovery process. We prioritize delivering results that allow patients to return to their normal activities with as little discomfort as possible.
